Hello! I'm Alyssa - it's lovely to meet you.

I'm passionate about textile arts - I love making and teaching others to make. I'm excited to share my work with you.
I post regularly on Instagram about my work and inspiration @alyssarobinsontextiles - why not follow along?
Please contact me by email info@alyssarobinsontextiles.com
Please forgive the state of the website at the moment - I have hidden the shop temporarily while I have most of my work on display at Art House Leicester. You can find all the details about the event here and I will be very happy to welcome you at 79 Holmfield Road during the event.

Once the weekend is over, I will post some new images and make sure the shop is full of things that are actually still for sale! In the meantime, please do get in touch by email or via instagram.

Back soon!
Talking about me...
(not my favourite pastime)
I've been faffing about with fabric for as long as I remember. Grandma and Grandad were always making something out of nothing, and my Mum and I loved getting the new edition of Golden Hands magazine each month. I loved all the techniques and remember making a smocked dress for the little girl I babysat for in the seventies.

I made clothes for dolls from Mum's dressmaking offcuts, then things for myself. Learning sewing all through school, I made stage costumes and endless copies of high street fashion for myself. A length of fabric bought on a Saturday morning - quickly run up in the afternoon to wear out in the evening.

I qualified and worked as a cartographer and geologist - but always spent spare time making clothes, eventually setting up a bespoke dressmaking business.

After some amazing years as a full time mum - I enrolled in a City & Guilds Embroidery course and haven't looked back! By the time of my Diploma Show, I had completed my Post Compulsory Education Certificate and was teaching the beginners' class at the same college. After 7 years teaching there, I set up my own studio on the Leicestershire/Northamptonshire border and set about teaching City & Guilds courses and day workshops. I've spent 12 years in the company of some fabulously creative people - and made some great friends.

But now it's time for another adventure.....
